D.J. and Will {Senior Photographer, Slidell, Louisiana}

D.J.

So I'm 25, and I graduated high school in 2002. It literally feels like yesterday to me. But it wasn't yesterday. It was 8 years ago. And if I told you how hard that is for me to believe, you'd kill me. Because 8 years isn't really that long ago, and I know that. But let me just tell you, hanging out with two guys that are about to be Seniors (with a capital S, because they are the Big Dogs on campus.) in high school for some reason made me feel really old and I don't really know why. Probably has a lot to do with one of my subjects, D.J., being my oldest nephew. He's grown up so much and has become one of the nicest, most sincere people I know. Never thought I'd say that after years of watching him as a little guy swiping toys from my mom's house to bring home. But the best part of that is he had this great little baseball cap that he'd have to fit on his head juuust right. And this little baseball cap was his vehicle for smuggling out toys. He'd get home, and take that little hat off and three or four little figurines would be perched on the top of his head. It makes me smile to think of how much of an adult he's already become. He's become so humble and mature, I can't wait to see what incredible things he'll do with his life. Here's some of my favorite shots of D.

You've become such a handsome guy, and I know the future has so many wonderful things in store for you. Congratulations, D.J.!!

Will

Will and D.J. have been good friends for a while, and I had the pleasure of meeting him to do his Senior pictures. He's as polite as you can be, and although initially I thought he was quiet, his personality was shining through before I knew it. He's also another looker, and has a style all his own. It was so nice meeting you Will, you were so fun to work with. You and D.J. are such a hilarious pair. I wish you all the best! Congratulations!

Here's some of Will's fabulous shots:

The R Family. {Madison, MS Family Photographer}

I'll start out with this: my family is gorgeous. My brothers manly men, hilarious, practical jokers. My sisters are graceful, timeless, loving, and incredibly good mothers. My nieces and nephews are growing with such unique personalities, and are such beautiful little people. My mom and dad are the very best you could ask for, and as far as families go, I'm so very blessed.
We went to visit my sister Kelly in Madison, Mississippi, just outside of Jackson. She's got 3 boys and 2 girls. They are so funny, and each is so different, but so much alike. I have some really great memories about each of them, and can't say enough great things about them. So much love for this crew, here. I was so flattered when she asked if I'd take some family portraits of them.

The oldest is D.J. He's growing up so much, and is getting to be so darn good looking. I remember when he was born. Can't wait to do his Senior portraits!

Next in line is Kassy. She's 15, and can come across as shy, but if you really know her, you know how sweet and mature she really is. She just spent the week with us at my house, and we miss her so much!! Its hard to believe she's become such a lovely young lady already.

Sarah is number three. She's literally 13 going on 30. She's the family comedian. She can turn any situation funny, and drops the most hysterical one liners. She made me crack up quite a few times, because she is so quick with the come backs! She's also becoming such a beautiful young lady, can't wait for her to come visit!

I especially love this picture. It really captures her infectious smile. And her mom was giving her the most hilarious directions to pose: "Sarah, throw your head back, shake your hair and then turn just a little and smile!" She followed the instructions perfectly, but started giggling uncontrollably. Such a great pic!

Now just the girls. Love them so much!!

Christian is the little looker, and he's next. He's ten and already a little ladies man. He's an incredible athlete, taking after is big brother and daddy, of course.
He's precious. And he totally knows it.

The youngest is Ryan, and he's four years old. They call him "the baby" and he loves every last second of it. He's a little cutie pie, and they all just adore him.

"Ryan, make big muscles!"

Love this family shot:

And after all this time, you might find it hard to believe, but these two are still love birds. Seriously.

Kell, thanks so much for the wonderful visit! I love you and your gorgeous family so much!! We had a great time, and can't wait to get up there again for some more crabs and appletinis!

Here...we... go...!!!

So, lately I've been contemplating the meaning of life. I've been thinking of brand new babies, and elderly folks. Starting out, and ending up. I can't help but snap tiny little pictures throughout my day, so I won't forget this stage of life. I've been thinking about Firefly, and what it means to me. And I feel like I've been selling myself short on my photography, calling it a "little hobby" or something I sometimes do. I also feel like if I were to properly market myself, organize my information and really get it together, I could really get something going here. So, I'm cleaning things up a bit. I'll no longer be posting "random" unedited pictures of my sweet little girls, but only the best of my home shots. I work part-time as a nurse, and I really love my job, so nothing is changing with that anytime soon. However, I feel like I've reached the point that I can say that I am a part-time photographer/part-time nurse. And as I learn, and the quality of my photography goes up, and I begin to spend more and more time researching, editing, and uploading, your investment in my photography will reflect that. But I love it enough to really pursue this. I get so much enjoyment out of seeing my customers eyes light up when they see the moment that I've captured of their gorgeous baby, frozen in time. Forever, with a gummy grin and bright eyes. Forever young, and beautiful. Forever with only a few teeth and a wobbly walk. Forever a teenager, with blossoming wit, and unending knowledge. Yes, I do believe I like this job. I can't wait to see what my future customers have in store. I can't wait to take a bite out of this gorgeous life.
