The Longest Post Ever. {Family and Children's Photographer}

It has been quite a while since I have updated with a new post. But, I have a good reason. I have been blessed with an abundance of work. And I am so grateful for it! So I have been up to my eyeballs in editing, cropping, ordering, delivering, fighting with Fed Ex, plus the usual Christmas shopping, working as a Nurse, and these two gorgeous little creatures that need me more than anything else I listed. So, needless to say, I've been up late after they go to bed, utilizing Mollie's nap time (since Maggie has boycotted naps since she was 18 months old) and any spare moment I find, I fill with working on my pictures. I'm very pleased with all of my recent shoots, and although I've had 6 sessions in about 4 days, I've somehow managed to use every productive second I have, and I'm not really that far behind. I also have been so lucky to have a fantastic group of customers, and very patient and understanding people in my life. I'm truly thankful. I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and a holy season, regardless of your religion. This is probably going to be my longest post, because each of my most recent sessions will be represented individually, but in the same post. So, here we go.

The R Family {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

So its been a long standing joke that the Meteorologists in southeast Louisiana really just guess at the weather. Its a lot of 50% this, and "most likely" that. Well, this Saturday morning, it was "probably" going to be chilly. 40 degrees later, we were COLD. But these two hilarious little guys and their 8 month pregnant momma and super nice daddy were just fine. They did a great job, and although the boys made me work for their smiles, it was well worth it. They delivered.

Best of luck with the rest of your pregnancy! I can't wait to meet little Gracie! Thanks for asking me to do your pictures! Your boys did great :)

The BIG Family {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

K approached me in September about scheduling family portraits for her family, including her siblings, and step family. What a gorgeous bunch to photograph!
I would say for a shoot with 14 people involved, it went remarkably well. K you have a lovely family, and I had a great time taking your portraits! Enjoy!

The B Family {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

For some people, the idea of taking pictures of a family with six kids might be somewhat intimidating. Well, if you know me, and you know the size of my family, you know that six kids is the norm for me. I was far from intimidated, I was delighted. And any other photographer would have missed out. Let me just tell you, these were the best behaved children, and so beautiful and polite, they could have all been in commercials or walking down a runway. It was a wonderful experience with fantastic results. Enjoy!

Such gorgeous children, and such a wonderful family!

The I Family: {Family Photographer: The Bluffs, Slidell, Louisiana}

I have known Momma I since high school, although she was more friends with my brothers, since they were closer in age. She has a beautiful family, and her two sons are just precious. It was chilly when we started the shoot, and it was just plain cold by the end. But everyone tolerated it fairly well. Lovely pictures, and a truly sweet family. You can see how much these two love being a mommy and a daddy.

It was so fun, and I just loved all the LSU and Saints gear!!!

The A girls {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

I've been blessed to be able to take Little Miss L's pictures before, and her and her mother have only gotten more beautiful since our first shoot (which, actually was my very first shoot, EVER so C and L have a special place in my heart) L has gotten a little bigger and is still the sweetest little darling you ever laid eyes on. She had just woken up from a nap, and was in the most adorable, giggly mood ever. It of course made for gorgeous pictures.

Thanks for putting faith in me to take L's pictures, as my very first paying shoot. You started it all! Forever grateful!

The S Family {Family Photographer: Olde Town Slidell, Louisiana}
Another lovely family that I have had the pleasure of taking portraits for once before, with gorgeous results, we got lucky again! The twins and Mister K have grown so much, I couldn't believe my eyes! B, you are gorgeous, and so photogenic! You have incredible children with a wonderful momma! Picture perfect!

To everyone who has been following me from the beginning and even the newcomers, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a New Year full of excitement, blessings, and love. You have all shown me so much support, I pray you have the same in your own lives.

So much love,
Katy

The M Family {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

I was so lucky to have taken the M girls portraits before, just a few short months ago. It was back when I first started taking pictures, and their wonderful momma took a chance on me. We captured some really beautiful pictures of them then, and I feel like I was able to really get some truly gorgeous shots of them this time around. It was a beautiful evening, and the sun was shining just right, again.(We're really starting to get along well, the sun and I.)

Its so nice to be able to not only know, but actually catch such a wonderful family, being themselves, on camera. They are the sweetest, most genuine family, and you can see it all over their faces.

And watching these two sisters, I can't help but see my own two girls. It makes me so happy to think of the bond that my babies will have forever. Always have someone to turn to, to trust, to confide in. Makes those first days after I found out we'd be having a second baby so soon a little sweeter.

The S Family {Family Photographer: Slidell, Louisiana}

With the time change comes so many things. There's the obvious, getting dark early, leaves changing, cooler weather. But there is so much more to embrace about Fall. Louisiana has its own version of Fall, completely different from other regions of the country. It seems to take ages for a cold front to finally reach us, and by the time it does, its already dissipating. So until mid December, we flirt with 80 degrees for a few days, then we don't reach 65 degrees for a few days. But there are the days of transition between, where something fabulous happens. There are no mosquitoes, no icy breeze, no sweltering heat. Its like Louisiana feels just like the inside of a house with the thermostat set on 70. Its.... perfect.

And The S Family soaked up every last second of the perfection that was this Friday afternoon. Hearing little Man D tell Momma S about how beautiful the landscape was and how we might never be so lucky to see such a gorgeous sunset again. Talk about perspective.

These were the sweetest twins, and they were so fun to watch. I made a comment to their grandmother about how nice they were to each other, and to be honest, my brother would have pushed me into the water by this point. But the connection between twins is so different. "They just love each other so much," she said. They were watching out for each other, and for their momma.

It was a lovely site to see: Momma S, Grandmother S, Mommas close Friend B, and Twins D and T, all happy and so thankful for each other. It was a privilege to be able to see such support and love throughout this family.

And oh, man, the BIG brothers, their gorgeous chocolate labs, were such a part of the family, they just belonged in their family portraits.

And then, something happened. Something that I have never had happen during a photo shoot, ever. I caught rays of sunshine. Not sun spots, not a glare. Actual rays of sunshine. It was absolutely incredible.

Momma S, thank you so much for asking me to take your portraits! I had a great time, but its always easy with a family as beautiful as yours!

The G Family {Family Photographer: New Orleans, Louisiana}

A Sunday morning in City Park has a way of setting a mood all on its own. The warm early sunshine, geese wandering around, and the sound of lucky little ones brought to play on the playground can somehow reverse even the worst of moods. We had it. The pond, the shade, the sunshine. We spread out a gorgeous quilt next to a pond, under the cool cover of one of City Park's majestic Oaks. But this little beauty didn't need any help. She was so happy and smiley, I just couldn't believe my eyes. This was the perfect photo shoot.

And oh, that dimple and crystal blue eyes!

And if the beautiful dress and delicate little crochet flower headband wasn't enough for you, we've got more. So much more. There is nothing sweeter than a little nakey baby sprawled out by a pond in City Park.

I've known Momma G for many, many years, so to see her with a precious little one of her own was such a treat. Its obvious how much her and Daddy G love this little princess. It was the happiest of mornings, and I was so thrilled to be able to capture it through my lens. Such a lovely family.

And a perfect family picture for your viewing pleasure:
